"This was the first time I had ever done anything like this and I was a little nervous. In fact, this was my Broadway debut, so I'm not surprised."
That's the way Paul McCartney reflected on his first time performance on the Great White Way Oct. 26 as one of the contributors to a tribute for composer Frank Loesser. The event was also a benefit for the Actors Fund. McCartney sang "On a Slow Boat to China" for the occasion. His comments about the show were posted on his official website.
"Normally I've got a guitar or a piano to help me out, but this time all I had was a hand mic but I had a great time all the same. The event raised more money than had been expected and will benefit members of the acting profession who have fallen on hard times.
"It was something completely different for me, but I knew the song from family sing-songs when I was a kid and I admire Frank Loesser's writing.
"And, in the end, it was a blast."
