When we first heard about what was described as an ultra rare copy of "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" that featured photos of Capitol Records execs instead of the faces of the Beatles, we were ready to dismiss it as an internet prank or a pasteover job.
But Stan Panenka, who is selling the album through his Ultimate Beatles Collection website, told us over the phone that it's the real thing.
"And," he added, "the album is still sealed."
He confirmed, in answer to our question, the pictures are printed on the sleeve, not pasted over.
"That is correct," he said.
So who are those guys?
"They're the Capitol execs and sales reps they put on the album cover," Panenka said.
Was the addition of the new photos done professionally?
"Yeah, it's a professional job, absolutely," Panenka says.
