On November 9, Thirteen/WNET, New York's largest public television station, will debut a new documentary, "How the Beatles Rocked the Kremlin." The film explores the role the Beatles played in undermining the Soviet Union's communist regime from the 1960s onward.
(You can see a preview of the show above.)
In conjunction with the broadcast, the station is running a contest/poll to get nominations for the musical artists who have had the most profound impact on history. The authors of the most popular nominations will win prizes, including the 17-CD Beatles remastered box set. Any artist, including ones that have already been nominated (you can see the nominations at http://www.thirteen.org/beatles/), can be chosen for your entry. The top five artists with the most nominations will be put to a vote. Those already nominated include the Beatles, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, Yo-Yo-Ma, Yoko Ono, Neil Young, Les Paul, Bob Marley, George Gershwin, Yehudi Menuhin, Pete Seeger, Michael Jackson, Little Richard, Elvis Presley, Duke Ellington, Andrea Bocelli, John Cage, Benny Goodman, Bach, Frank Sinatra and Luciano Pavorotti.
