Beatle News Briefs 12/30/08: McCartney calls for end to iTunes deadlock
- Paul McCartney has called for an end to the stalemate in negotiations that would bring the Beatles music to Tunes, reports the Liverpool Echo. “I hope it happens. It is out of our hands, really. It is a business thing and there is some gridlock somewhere. It is the usual thing – when it is a Beatles deal, it is a big deal. It is not like we are just some new act. When you are talking about iTunes, obviously we have got to get a great deal. I think we are right, because we are The Beatles! It is being held up, but I definitely hope it comes through because it is about time it happened. We have been goofing around enough, so if you are reading this, whoever is holding it up, stop it!,” the paper quoted Sir Paul.
- In its year-end concert roundup, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune rated the Ringo Starr and his All-Starr Band show at Mystic Lake Casino on July 14 the "Biggest Letdown," describing it as "far-from-stellar." Must have been a much different show from the one we saw at a different stop, which was a lot of fun. (Thanks to Matt Burley of fab4radio.com for this item.)
- Examiner.com's Antiques and Auction Examiner, AuctionWally, has a list of 10 Beatles Collectibles selling well on eBay.
- Speaking of things on eBay, here's one: a Beatles 45 of "Please Please Me" with picture sleeve.
- It won't show you the Beatles, but this webcam of the Abbey Road crossing in London will occasionally show you people trying to act like them. Otherwise, Abbey Road is usually a pretty busy street, not like the calm scene you saw on the album cover.
