I feel terribly sorry for anyone who rushed to their local Bloomingdale's or the Bloomingdale's website and bought the Beatles iPod when it first hit the shelves in October.
It was initially priced at $899. We were in our local Bloomingdale's last week and it was $599. A spokesman for the store just told us it was now down to $499. We confirmed that price with a second store.
Beatle fans groaned when the price was initially announced. The drop in price certainly has a lot to do with the shaky economy, but also due to the fact it was way overpriced in the first place. An associate at one store confided to me they hadn't sold any at that location.
Initially it was available both on stores and online. A reader alerted us that trying to order it online brought an error. When we tried to search for it on the site today, we received this error -- "We're sorry, we couldn't find any items that matched your search term" -- but have been unable to get an answer from the store whether it's still available online.
But it is still available in the stores proper. The price, however, appears to be dropping. And dropping.
