  • Victor SpinettiActor Victor Spinetti, right, whose role of Richard, the ultra-nervous TV director, is one of the most memorable characters in the Beatles' first film "A Hard Day's Night" and who also had roles in two other Beatles' films "Help!" and "Magical Mystery Tour," will give three free performances of his one-man show "Victor Spinetti: A Very Private Diary" at 6 p.m. Jan. 5 and Jan. 8 and 3 p.m. Jan. 10 in the Bruno Walter Auditorium in The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center, 111 Amsterdam Ave. (between 64th and 65th streets), New York City.   • As one of its "Fifty Ways to Improve Your Life,"  U.S. News and World Report suggests watching "Let It Be." Assuming you can find a copy, that is, since the film is out of print.
  • The last owner of the original Cavern Club before it moved to its present location has discovered some rare medallions used to identify Cavern Club members in the old days, reports Click Liverpool. Roy Adams, who was the owner of the club until it was forced to move in 1973 because the building's owners, British Rail, planned to demolish the original historic building to build a railway ventilation shaft, discovered the medals when cleaning out a shed at his home. A limited number, which will include a certificate of authenticity, will be put on sale, he says.
  • "American Idol" mentor Simon Cowell says he would love to have Paul McCartney on his show, but admits the chances are slim,  reports Reuters. "We try every year to get Paul McCartney on but for whatever reason he won't come on," he recently told reporters in a conference call.  Yeah, but if he had Paul on, he would have to be nice, wouldn't he?
  • The Star.com has a preview of the new New York Rock Hall of Fame annex. The new site has exhibits relating to both the Beatles as a group and the Beatles as solo performers.
