Like it or not, Michael Jackson was still the topic of conversation Friday.

Here's what we posted:

There's been a development in the Beatles catalog story since we posted the above link. A report on Bloomberg.com says that Sony/ATV will keep the Beatles catalog and not sell it. Obviously, we'll have to see how this plays out.

A few other comments, starting with the McCartney statement about Michael Jackson. We saw comments online Friday suggesting that Paul's statement about Jackson was more heartfelt than the one he gave after John's death ("It's a drag"). That, of course, isn't even an issue since the impact of John's death on Paul was much harder and because he didn't have the luxury of a prepared statement, as he did with Jackson.

Our opinion of "Say Say Say" is more positive now than it was previously. We recall Paul getting critical flack for those collaborations with Jackson. But "Say Say Say" is definitely the best of the three.

There is another Michael Jackson story with a Beatle connection, though on a different level. AEG Live, which was to present the Jackson London shows and is also presenting some McCartney shows, is faced with the huge headache of refunding all the ticket money to Jackson's shows. Billboard.biz has reported that AEG announced refund details will be made public next week. How the refunding will impact the company as a whole, since, according to some reports, the concerts may not have been completely insured, remains to be seen.

And one more: Roger Catlin of the Hartford Courant says Yoko Ono was on stage at the end of the first of two Jackson's 30th anniversary shows at Madison Square Garden on Sept. 7, 2001.

Is there any other news besides Michael Jackson news?

The Joel Plaskett Emergency will open for Paul McCartney in Halifax. The group announced it on their website.

thenewno2 will be live at Cinespace, 6356 Hollywood Blvd., 2nd level, Hollywood, CA, this Sunday, according to Absolutely Dhani Harrison.com.

Popular Mechanics conducted an interesting interview with "The Beatles: Rock Band" lead designer Chris Foster and got him to reveal a few details, including the extent of the input from Paul, Ringo, Yoko and Olivia (a lot), whether solo songs will be used (no) and how the game will play out with other "Rock Band" games.

The theme on this week's "Beatles Universe" is "Spooky Beatles" and features "What a Shame Mary Jane Had a Pain at the Party," "Free as a Bird," "Revolution No. 9,"  "Frankenstein Meets The Beatles" by Dickie Goodman/Jeckyl and Hyde, "It Is He Who Will Be King" by Ringo Starr and "Daybreak" by Harry Nilsson, both from "Son of Dracula" and "I'm the Urban Spaceman" by The Bonzo Dog Band. The show is heard Sundays at 9.00pm (EST) on 94.9, The Rock (www.therock.fm).

And a Washington State music shop owner is being sued by the Monkees for using a logo they say is similar to the group's logo,
