Earlier this week on his radio show, Michael Savage vowed to post pictures and other ‘pertinent information’ about the staff of watchdog group Media Matters for America. In a statement during his radio show today he appeared to back off, saying only that an unidentified person was researching publicly available information such as the group’s tax filings. Non-profit organizations must file IRS form 990 and are available for public inspection.

Apparently his call for right wing talkers and fellow travelers to rise up against this media watchdog was met with a resounding silence. His attempt to push back and silence his critics appears to be a failure. It is difficult for Savage to push back against reporting that includes recordings of his own words.

The media; often called “the fourth estate” is a vital watchdog over the actions of government and government officials but can at times becomes a docile lapdog. Groups like Media Matters for America watch the watchdogs, and as a truth detector for talkers and other commentators who sadly are all too often primary political information sources for some Americans. The best response to Media Matters would be responsible commentary that offers a different opinion rather than demonizing screeds about individuals and organizations. At some point it all sounds like a bland type of hate speech white noise. The echo chamber only sounds reasonable inside the chamber.

Mr. Savage it appears has conceded defeat and chooses to continue to howl at the moon as his Savage Nation dwindles. It makes one wonder: what does whimpering sound like inside an echo chamber?

Media Matters released the following video in response:
