Sean Faircloth and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi - Photo courtesy of SCASean Faircloth, the new Executive Director of the Secular Coalition for America, is making great strides for the atheist movement. According to an e-mail, he has been meeting top Washington political officials.

Sean, who is a former Majority Whip of the Maine House of Representatives and an atheist, joined the SCA less than a month ago. In the short time he has been on board, he has done a great deal in expanding the atheist relationship with Washington officials.

I expect millions of Americans to support our cause because, like me, they refuse to accept the persistent intrusion of religion into government policy. To stop the forces trying to entangle our government with religion, we must take this organization to the next level." It seems that Sean is doing just that.

Hopefully, we will begin to see the fruits of his and SCA's labors in the near future. But for now, this gives hope that atheists are on the verge of becoming a true force with a respected voice in Washington.

Note: the word "with" was removed from the title and from the body of this article so that it would not be taken to mean that Sean had "meetings" with Washington officials. He "met" them... but didn't meet "with" them. I apologize for any trouble this may have caused.
