Northern Virginia hotels base rates on height of shortest travelers
Abraham Lincoln was our tallest president at 6 feet, 4 inches. In honor of Honest Abe’s 200th birthday this month, Fairfax County, Va., is offering a special height-based
hotel rate promotion. During the months of February, March and April, guests at participating hotels can have their rates determined by the height in inches of the shortest person in their party. If you’re planning a Spring Break trip to D.C., you might want to consider staying in the ‘burbs (Fairfax County is
located a few miles south and west of the city) and bringing a shorty along. More than 15 hotels are participating -- including many positioned around
Mount Vernon, Dulles Airport and Tysons Corner.
The gimmick is good for Saturday night stays only and requires a two-night minimum stay. Plus, you’ve got to book at least 72 hours in advance. Still, the participating hotel list includes some pricey options:
Hilton Washington Dulles,
Hyatt Dulles,
Hyatt Fair Lakes and
Westin Tysons Corner. Unless your shortest travel compatriot is Lincoln-sized, it’s a steal.
