Travel in comfort with the 2010 Lexus RX 350
For the family who travels, it’s so important to drive a vehicle that is comfortable, reliable, and safe. These factors combined with extra amenities (push button start, smartly-designed interior, and rear-seat entertainment) start narrowing the choices for such a vehicle, but there is definitely one worth a second look in the 2010 Lexus RX 350 (also available in a hybrid model – the RX 450h).
Safety first
Let’s face it…safety is probably the primary concern for families, and this trend-setting crossover within the SUV segment sets a standard of excellence with 10 standard airbags including side curtains, front seat-mounted side airbags, rear side airbags, and knee airbags for the driver and front passenger.
In addition to numerous airbags, this Lexus offers a multitude of safety features that you’ll quickly appreciate as you transport your most precious cargo. Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) is a handling technology available on the RX 350 (and standard on the RX 450h) that anticipates an out of control vehicle and collectively employs all aspects of the vehicle’s handling systems to safely assist the driver in maintaining and correcting the vehicle. These handling systems include features you may be familiar with already: Anti-Lock Brakes, Brake Assist, Vehicle Stability Control, and Traction Control. Individually these systems are great safety facilitators, but when collectively put into motion as a uniform tool for accident prevention, they take on a more advanced role that families can count on for superb vehicle protection in many unfortunate situations.
Performance, interior and exterior
The RX 350 combines a 3.5-liter V6 engine with a six-speed Multi-Mode Automatic Transmission. This powerful combination delivers 275 horsepower creating an enhanced performance from a luxury vehicle and offering decent fuel economy (I consistently got 20-21 mpg on the road).
Improving slightly on the previous generation, but also staying close to home with this top-selling “better-than-a-station wagon” crossover, Lexus has found a combination of luxury, gizmos and gadgets, and performance-enhancing qualities that work for those in the market for such a vehicle.
Inside the RX 350, you’ll find an improved, more user-friendly multimedia controller, a Hard Disc Drive navigation system (no more discs), a roomy center cargo space, seat air/heat controls, Mark Levinson Surround Sound System, and optional rear seat entertainment (perfect for traveling children).
In familiar Lexus finesse, the RX 350 is more attractive to the eye than the previous model and is available in nine color choices including Cerulean Blue Metallic. And, despite the obvious improvements, the RX still maintains its iconic appearance consumers have come to love and appreciate with the grille slightly below the headlights and the strong frontal façade.
My favorite features
My favorites and yours may be entirely different, but I think you’ll be impressed by some of the same amenities that grabbed my attention. Being travel fanatics, the Beall household has come to expect certain features in a vehicle, mainly for comfortable travel, and we found many in this particular one.
· Comfortable seating
· Awesome audio
· Quiet ride with little road noise
· Lots of cup holders
· Distinct exterior design (loved the rear spoiler which adds to the appearance, lowers the RX’s Coefficient of drag, AND hides the rear windshield wiper)
· Navigation (it’s no fun to be lost)
Available in dealerships now, you can test drive the 2010 RX 350 for yourself.
