Jade Goody’s second autobiography

Facing death within weeks from cervical cancer, British reality-TV star Jade Goody, 27, is planning her wedding, writing her will and trying to make enough money – one way or another – to make sure her two young sons will be able to get the good education she never had.

“I’ve lived in front of the cameras. And maybe I’ll die in front of them. And I know some people don’t like what I’m doing but at this point I really don’t care what other people think. Now, it’s about what I want,” Goody told Carole Malone of the British tabloid The News of the World.

Goody, who had a rough and impoverished upbringing in south London, was a 21-year-old dental assistant when she landed a berth in the third season of the Big Brother reality show in the United Kingdom. Her apparent ignorance of many things considered general knowledge in England made her a target for ridicule in the tabloids, but her pugnacious personality made her the sort of person people love to cheer for or against.

After finishing fourth in the competition, she made herself a millionaire through additional gigs on reality TV along with opening a beauty shop, launching a perfume, publishing two autobiographies and generally keeping herself in the tabloid headlines. She was taking part in the Bigg Boss reality show in India last summer when she was diagnosed. She left that show to return to her homeland for treatment but has remained in front of the cameras since, turning her cancer battle into a series of televised documentaries.

Told last week that her condition would be terminal within a matter of months or even weeks, she is planning to wed fellow reality-TV personality Jack Tweed, 21, within the next two weeks and is considering selling the rights to televise the wedding. It is unclear whether she’ll really go so far as to allow herself to be filmed on her deathbed – and whether any broadcasting company would choose to televise that footage. But her mention of it in the paid-for interview she did with The News of the World, which appeared in its Sunday editions, certainly indicates she isn’t ruling it out.

Goody’s representative, Max Clifford, indirectly addressed the possibility again today in the U.K. press. He repeated assertions made by his client over the weekend that she was determined to use media coverage to raise money for her children, Bobby, 5, and Freddie, 4, according to an online story from the Guardian.

Knowing that, I expected to find an astrological chart rife with exhibitionist fire signs when I cast Goody’s birth chart. But that’s not what I found at all. Instead, I found the combination of gritty willfulness and luck that she used to become rich and famous for being nothing more than herself. The powerful potential for success that is represented by Jupiter and Saturn conjunct in her natal chart might have remained untapped potential if it weren’t trine her natal Mars, which created a path for success through sheer force of will.

The combative, offensive and even violent streak that she has had all her life also shows in her birth chart, in the opposition of Uranus to Mars. But there’s also a great deal of sensitivity and nurturing motherliness reflected in the chart. Her natal moon along with Mercury and Venus are all in the sign of Cancer, the sign ruled by the motherly moon. By sun sign, she’s a Gemini, born June 6, 1981, which ought to give her the ability to think logically even if she is short on formal education.

The potential for her current health crisis shows in transits of current conditions against her natal chart, and the fact that this is not just a potentially dangerous time, which is all astrology can say, but is actually a medically-recognized end-time has been conveyed to her by her physicians. That Goody is even considering dying in front of cameras to the extent that she’s willing to float the idea in an interview with a tabloid reporter is a symptom of transiting Pluto in Capricorn opposing her natal Mercury. That opposition typically gives rise to extreme and fanatical thoughts and communications.

I deeply understand this young woman’s fervent desire to leave her boys with the very best chance in life that she can give them. But I hope she’ll consider that money isn’t everything. And when it gets down to the wire, I hope she’ll turn the cameras off.
