Miami Artist Meme Ferre is organizing an Artists' Retreat in her ancestral home, Villa Mary, in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico, this summer. There will be two one-week retreats offered to individuals or groups of up to 10 people, the first in July, from the 19th to the 25th, and in August, from the 2nd to the 8th.
Adjuntas, founded in August of 1815, is located within the Cordillera Central, which is the lush coffee region of Puerto Rico, also known as the land of lakes. It is less than two hours' drive from San Juan on a comfortable interstate-style highway. The region is referred to as the Switzerland of Puerto Rico because its mountain location offers low temperatures, with an average yearly weather of 72 degrees Fahrenheit -- ideal weather not typically found in the Caribbean during the low season, which translates to great air fare!
