So the joke goes--if men gave birth each family would only have one kid. The title of this article sounds like a joke too, but it's not.
A Tel Aviv University studied 66,000 births, and it turns out that a male baby's birth has more risks than a female's.
Girls do have a higher risk in utero and for a breech birth. But boy fetuses had many more risks. To quote one of the researchers, "'...in general, boys are more vulnerable in their life in utero, and this vulnerability continues to exist throughout their lives,' says Prof. Glezerman, an expert in gender-based medicine. 'Men are known to have a shorter lifespan, are more susceptible to infections, and have less chance of withstanding disease than women. In short, men are the weaker sex.'"
One of the results of the study is that males and females are different enough to require different approaches in medical treatment.
