That might seem like a no-brainer. Of course the recession is impacting mental health. But you might be surprised at how serious the impact is.
Twenty percent of US workers say the recession causes anxiety, fear, and/or depression.
Employees worry about job security, and worry is just a brief step away from anxiety and even panic.
How can you relieve your work-related anxiety?
1. The obvious thing is to do the best job you can. Be the best employee you can be. There's no guarantee you'll keep your job, but you'll have a better chance than someone who is slacking off.
2. Ask your boss what the plans are for layoffs. Sometimes you can find out information simply by asking.
3. Learn other skills, go to school, read--anything that makes you more valuable if you do need to find other employment.
There's no surefire way to keep your job, but the above may relieve your anxiety a little. And relieving anxiety is a good way to stay healthy.
