Does where you sit mean anything?

Maybe you don’t think about the same things, but I notice where people sit, and I’ll wonder why they plant themselves where they do.

I was at a workshop a few weeks ago, and I met lots of new people.

Normally I’m a front row kind of person. Because I had a cold, I sat in the last row. The view was really different.

Before the training started, groups of people who already knew each other were busy chatting away. Individuals, like me, were reading the newspaper or writing in a notebook (me).

And there was a football player type, stuck in the front row between two other burly characters because he got there a little late. You come in late; you take what you can get.

Some individuals sat turned so their back almost faced the person next to them. That’s a real signal of “I want to be alone.”

Does where we sit say anything about us? I normally like the front row for two reasons. First, it makes me feel a part of whatever is going on. And secondly, it forces me to stay awake.

Some of my friends always want to sit in the back. I’ve never really asked them why, but will, now that it’s on my mind.

What about you? Where do you sit and why? Do you think it means anything? Or am I making a mountain out of a molehill?

Just take it one gigantic, earth-shattering crisis at a time.
