There is a new book chronicling the life, so far, of HRH Crown Princess Victoria, the future Queen of Sweden. Herman Lindqvist, who was the Princess’ private history tutor, writes the book to be released in November. The timing of the new biography coincides with her hugely anticipated wedding next year, as well as the 200th throne anniversary of the Bernadotte dynasty.
Mr. Lindqvist covers Victoria’s life, her search for love, her engagement to Daniel Westling, his kidney illness, as well as her desire to start a family. Daniel was said to be in poor health during the announcement of their engagement and later needed a kidney transplant. He actually missed an engagement dinner with the royal family due to his illness. Revealed in the book were King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia’s reservations about Daniel as a potential husband. Victoria is quoted: “They wanted to clear that I would get the best possible support and backing for my job now and in the future. How could they know that Daniel could give me that? How would he do it?” Daniel later won the blessing of the King and Queen, and is set to marry the only female heir apparent in the world next year.
