Nearly 40 ‘victorious’ women of God from 18 different states flowed into the chic Aloft Hotel at BWI in Linthicum, MD for what turned out to be an event that will forever be etched in the minds and hearts of the contributing authors who connected both naturally and spiritually during the 3-day (November 13-15, 2009) book release celebration.
The event co-sponsored by Christian Authors on Tour was coordinated to honor the successful completion of the Victorious Living for Women (VLW) anthology.
VLW features stories and testimonies of victory which bind 40 diverse and unique women together in one empowering project that has created a sisterhood that will transcend many barriers as they set out to empower and inspire multitudes of other women.
On Friday around 6pm, after quite a few of the authors had arrived and settled in at the hotel, the ladies kicked off the evening with a Blog Talk Radio interview with WHOLE Ministries hosted by Evangelist Linda Hillman. The authors sporadically convened in one of the hotel’s meeting rooms as they took turns passing a phone around to chat briefly with Hillman, discussing their individual contributions to the book project. After the segment concluded, this paved the way to formal introductions and face to face greetings among the authors, along with co-publisher Cheryl Pullins. Up until this point many had for the most part only corresponded via e-mail, conference calls and other social media networks. It was this warm, sisterly atmosphere that set the tone for the main event that would transpire on Saturday, November 15th.
On Saturday morning the ladies of VLW along with co-publishers Jamar Suber and Cheryl Pullins met for a studio taping on Rejoice Network’s television program Daughters of Distinction hosted by Pastor Trena Stephenson. The spirit of the Lord moved mightily as this group of women began to lift up prayers, praise and worship, realizing in that very moment an overwhelming glimpse of what God is doing in this season, at this time through this project.
Dressed in all black attire, accessorized with colorful gerbera daisy pins (a symbolic gift bestowed upon the authors by Pullins), the ladies of VLW gathered in the lobby area at around 3pm on Saturday in preparation to greet guests, family, friends, book lovers and supporters who would help celebrate the completion of the VLW anthology which happens to be first of multiple projects under the Suber-Pullins Publishing umbrella.
Two of Baltimore’s best, were also present to support the event and provide lasting memories of this victorious celebration. Maria Pitts-Roberts set-up her laptop to provide live coverage of the event on her blog Aesthetic Elevation, as master photographer Jeff Martin captured some of the most memorable moments of the evening with his lens.
To close out the 3-day celebration, several of the authors along with co-publisher Pullins, gathered together for Sunday morning worship service at Promise Land Church ministries followed by a book signing/author meet & greet session also held at the church. The power-filled message delivered by Pastor Clendon Terry was absolutely a befitting conclusion to this memorable and victorious event. Although the pre-launch festivities have come to an inevitable end, this celebration marks only the beginning of what is to come for these women.
It should come as no surprise that the VLW project is rapidly transitioning into what is being deemed a “movement”. No doubt this is a mighty “movement” of God that will spread from the lives of these 40 authors into the lives of women all over the world.
