Openly bisexual comedian Russell Brand made a splash on talk shows this week, promoting MTVs Video Music Awards, which he was to host.
First stop: The View. Russell flirted with all the View ladies, but focused in on the resident single lady, Sherri Shepard, who basked in his attention.
Next stop: Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
Russell notices that there are bits of something in his drink. Jimmy offers his, but they find bits in there too.
Russell: I'll tell you what Thor doesn't do is to rain Rohypnol into his guest's drinks. [They had been discussing the rainy weather and Thor, God of Thunder.]
Jimmy: [Laughing hysterically] I'm giving you the date rape drug in your drink!
Russell: At least give me the date first.
Jimmy: [still laughing} I'm just giving you all the rape!
In the next segment, Kaitlin Olsen from It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia is the new guest, but Russell stays, he just moves over onto the couch, where he lounges insouciantly. Jimmy congratulates Kaitlin on her marriage.
Jimmy: Russell's a bit upset.
Russell: Why am I staying here, if you're bringing out people that are married?
Kaitlin: [Reassuringly] I cheat on him all the time.
Russell: Ah. So you do betray him?
Kaitlin: Absolutely. That was part of the whole thing going in.
Jimmy: Will you stay, Russell?
Russell: I'll stay. There might be a betrayal, which would be interesting for me.
Kaitlin: We'll see. We'll see how it goes.
Jimmy: Thank you for staying, I appreciate that.
Russell: I'm not staying just on the off chance of sex. I'm not quite that shallow.
Jimmy: No, no, no. Absolutely not.
Russell: [Whispering to the audience] I am.
This is Russell's second year hosting the VMAs. I miss his crazy hairdo of last year, which may have been Amy Winehouse inspired, after all, she's a fellow Brit.
