This week a betrayed wife in New York made the news by pouring boiling water on her cheating husband’s crotch.

We all know that expression “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.”

While that may be an extreme example of getting revenge on a cheating mate, we know that many infidelity victims, male and female, will stop at nothing to even the score.

It’s not uncommon for the wife of a cheating husband to get her revenge by selling, giving away, or simply destroying the cheater’s prized possessions (sports car, sail boat, golf cart, power tools, etc)

Others get revenge by running up major debts or sticking their husbands with exorbitant credit card bills.

Single women who have been victims of infidelity often chose to exact virtual vengeance.

They post warnings about the cheater, along with his name, picture, and other embarrassing information on websites like WomanSavers or Don’tDateHimGirl.com.

Other Kinds of Revenge on Cheating Mates

Infidelity victims can be quite inventive when it comes to exacting revenge.

Some infidelity victims put a great deal of energy and choosing a method of revenge that can often range from petty things that will greatly inconvenience the cheater or cause maximum mental stress. Consider the examples below:

• One infidelity victim had the cheater’s utilities, cable TV, and telephone service disconnected
• A betrayed wife cut off one arm from each of her cheating husband’s business suits
• One man discarded one earring from each pair in his cheating girlfriend’s jewelry box
• One woman had all her cheating boyfriend’s mail forwarded to another address
• A betrayed husband cancelled all his cheating wife’s credit cards
• One young woman called every pizzeria in town and had each one deliver two pizzas to boyfriend’s house.
• One woman called the police with an anonymous (and false) tip that her cheating fiancé had a huge drug stash in his apartment
• Another woman spread the rumor that her cheating lover had AIDS.

There’s even a blog called Get Revenge – Getting Revenge with information and resources infidelity victims of both sexes can use in plotting their revenge.

Third Party Revenge

Some betrayed spouses feel that the best way to get revenge is by taking things out on the Other Woman or the Other Man. That could mean exposing the affair to the Other Woman’s or Other Man’s spouse, family, boss, or religious organization – or something more extreme. Of course, to successfully pull off a third party revenge scheme, you need to know the identity of the person your spouse or significant other is cheating with. But services that specialize in reverse cell phone searches, e-mail address searches, and background checks make that easy enough, at prices anyone can afford.

Revenge Cheating and Retaliatory Affairs

Revenge cheating is fairly common, though women tend to use this form of revenge more often than men. But it rarely has the desired effect. Instead of showing the cheater how it feels to be cheated on, it can actually have the opposite effect. The cheater may use your revenge cheating or retaliatory affair as an excuse to continue cheating on you, or as justification for having more affairs. Revenge cheating can also lead to domestic violence or worse.

Forms of Revenge to Avoid

Some forms of revenge are relatively harmless. But other forms of revenge can land a person in jail. It’s never advisable to resort to violent, destructive, or illegal means of getting back at a cheating mate. There’s no need to break the law to get revenge when there are legal ways to accomplish the same thing.
