On Thursday, November 19th, a woman appeared on the Rachael Ray show, who has lost 6 pounds in two days while following the new diet. Liz Vaccariello, Editor-in-Chief of Prevention magazine, and author of 400 Calorie Fix, explained to Rachael the idea behind the diet. Not only does the book provide guidelines for the 400 calorie limit, but also includes 400 ideas, tips and recipes that will benefit you whether you cook at home or eat on the run.
The author explains that the idea behind the specifics of the diet came from the recommendation of registered dietitians who say 400 is the amount of calories needed to stay satisfied and to provide enough nutrients to maintain health. Vaccariello states that the average American eats 2,700 calories per day, which for the average woman, is 1000 calories too many. Cutting out the extra 1000 calories will make an impact.
