Something is a little fishy in Monte Carlo. Yes, that ballerina does have chest hair. Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo, also known as "Dudes in Tutus" and the "blokey bells of Les Ballets" is (you guessed it) a company comprised entirely of men. "The  Trocks" combine Classical Ballet with comedy and men en pointe. Often clever but always amusing, Trockadero's not-so-willowly ballerinas are great atheletes, artists, and comedians. "The Trocks" brand of comedy is fueled by exaggeration and, one suspects, personal experience in the blunders and pitfalls of performing Classical Ballet.

For over thirty years "The Trocks" have enjoyed international renown. To date the "Men en pointe" have toured in more than 500 cities worldwide and often extend their touring season. The company has been featured both on television and at major arts festivals including Spoleto. As part of their community outreach, Trockadero regularly appears at  AIDS benefit events and other charity events around the world.

The "Jocks of the Trocks" are currently on tour armed with a rich repertory of both classical and modern works and an unlimited supply of rather large pointe shoes. There is good news for New Mexican fans of "The Trocks." Les Ballets Trockadero will be performing at the Lensic Theater in Santa Fe in Februrary, 2010. More information will be posted as it becomes available.
