Find out more about Foy: Foy Tootle is from the low country of Georgia. He was raised camping, hunting and fishing in the swamplands west of Savannah, and his summers were spent in the mountains of Georgia and North Carolina exploring trails and streams with his father and uncles. At an early age he found a love and appreciation for gifts given freely by wild places. In his early 20's, Foy hiked the Appalachian trail from Springer Mountain, Ga. to Rainbow Springs, N.C. It was a formative trip that helped to finish shaping the direction his life would take. Today, Foy lives in Dahlonega, 60 miles north of Atlanta in the mountains of north Georgia. He teaches English and Literature at a therapeutic boarding school and wilderness program for at-risk youth nestled in a glen near the base of Springer Mountain. When he is not teaching children how to write a proper essay, how to read Shakespeare, or how to start an efficient campfire, he is hiking, camping, climbing, or canoeing with his wife Julie. |
