The iPhone is the 4th runner up as 2008 gadget

The fourth runner up for 2008 gadget of the year is the Apple iPhone 3G.
It’s not the 3G feature that places the iPhone in the top five this year – the advantage of the higher speed is offset by the reduced battery life on this year’s model. It is, rather, acknowledgement that the iPhone has become the standard smart phone by which all others are judged. In particular, the large library of applications available on the iPhone app store gives the phone an advantage that will be hard for other phones to match in the near future.
