T.I. heads to prison.

The date has been chosen for T.I. to start serving his sentence for felony weapon charges stemming from an event where the Hip-Hop artist purchased illegal fire arms in a Walmart parking lot in the Autumn of 2007.

According to court papers attained by the Associated Press, T.I. is scheduled to report to prison by noon on Tuesday, May 26th, 2009. The Forest City prison that is located in Arkansas, will be T.I.'s place of residence for approximately one year and a day, the length of his sentence.

In addition to his sentencing and as a part of his plea deal, T.I. has to pay $100,000 in fines and agree to participate in 500 hours of community service upon completion of his sentence.

T.I. had this to say during a press conference on March 27th, 2009 about the judges decision,

Although I am not thrilled about my next year and a day, I am pleased that I am beginning the process of putting this all behind me. Thank you and I apologize to my family, to the young men, young women that I mentor. I hope that I can keep at least one, if not a million or more, from going down a similar path. I just want to say thank you.

T.I. during this time has remained very positive and up-beat about the outcome of his actions, by completing his ordered community service and creating a MTV reality show titled Road To Redemption to help trouble teens see the error in their ways and to make needed life changes

Recently, T.I. participated in a peace rally with activist Al Sharpton to help spread the word about the detriments the community suffers due to the presence of guns and violence. The campaign was inspired in memory of two young boys,Christopher Owens and Corey Squires, who were 13 and 17 years old respectively that were recent victims to gun violence.
