These past few weeks have been lightened up by the current explosive and controversial dispute of the moment, the 50 cent and Rick Ross beef.
Now if you know anything about Hip Hop, you know that beef to Hip Hop is like a wedding cake to a wedding; not unusual at all. This beef is a little different from other beef’s in Hip Hop’s past; it is a lot funnier and creative and it now involves the Internet.
You know that you are officially in the new millennium when Hip Hop beef is contingent on internet connection. If you are looking to hear about it on TV or on your favorite video channel (or lack there of) you might as well cut your loses because the hot spot’s for this beef ends with dot com.
Here’s how it all started if you missed it. As I previously reported, Rick Ross had sat down with MTV in what was a phone interview about his up-and-coming album Deeper Than Rap. As warned, he said that he would be releasing a single called “Mafia Music” in which he predicted would upset a few people, what he failed to mention was who.
Well, “Mafia Music” was released and the person he spoke about upsetting was good ol’ 50 Cent. In the track, he makes a snide remark about the incident that occurred at 50 Cent’s son’s mother’s residence which was the burning down of her home. He implied that 50 was the one that set the house on fire by rapping this line,
Curtis Jackson baby mama, I ain’t asking for a cent/ Burn the house down, gotta buy another/ don’t forget the gas can, jealous, stupid ***********.
As if 50 was going to take this laying down in his muti-million dollar home sipping on mimosas for breakfast. Quick, fast, and in a hurry 50 Cent responded with his song “Officer Ricky (Try Me)" where he also offended Brooklyn female rapper, Foxy Brown.
Oh but it didn’t stop there. 50 decided to, in his words, “be as disrespectful as possible” and “over promote Rick Ross”. 50 got a hold of Rick’s Correctional Officer records and put it on display for the world to see. This included everything from C.O. certificates to pay stubs. Because he wanted to give Ross a whole lot of tender loving care on this matter, he also put out a string of videos such as this one:

Well, we already know 50 wanted to put more fire under Rick. He [50] paid to have Rick Ross’ son’s mother flown out to New York City to air out all of Rick’s dirty laundry. As compensation, 50 took her on a lavish shopping spree filled with fur coats and designer heels; that 50, what a giver.
And right when you thought 50 was done, he was actually just getting warmed up. 50 completed his Rick Ross promotion by starting Officerricky.com, a site devoted to providing updated information about newly released Officer Ricky cartoon’s and t-shirts with Rick being portrayed as an officer of the law.
Rick wasn’t having all of this, so he decided to start Thisiscurly.com. “Curly” by the way, is a term that those from Miami use to describe a “soft guy” if you get what I mean. Not that impressive if you ask me. The site has start up music which I hate when I visit sites, and it's a total bite off of 50’s mock site with promotion for Rick's album of course; but it is all the while entertaining.
Rick also made it a priority to put out his own cartoon video’s portraying 50 Cent as someone who prefers gentlemen over women.
Other hip hop artists have weighed in on the beef including Russell Simmons and Jim Jones. Jim Jones had this to say about the beef.
WARNING: Explicit Content.
Today, 50 Cent released his latest diss to Rick Ross called “Tia Told Me”. F.Y.I. Tia is Rick Ross’ son’s mother; I know, serious.

On the race to see who could ruin whose career first thus far, 50 Cent is in the lead with this beef. Rick will only redeem himself if he becomes more creative and strategic. As for now, its back to the drawing board for Rick.
