There I was, returning home from getting a few things from the store when I was tuned in to DJ Mr. C (loves him!) on Hot 97 Friday night. He premiered Jadakiss' new song featuring Faith Evans off of the Notorious soundtrack entitled "Letter To B.I.G." This song is hot, Hot, HOT!!
For the first time in a very long time I refused to get out of my car until I heard the whole song. I was so sucked into Jada's words and the melodic hypnotic vibe and tone of the beat. It was the first time in a long time I regained respect for Jada as well as hip hop.
I'll tell you why the song was hot, Jada recaptured what made him a certified banger, himself. A lot of artist who have been around for a while with the exception of Jay-Z, are trying so hard to be the "new age rappers" when it doesn't even work for them. We actually like their original sounds but they now want to sound like19 year old rappers. To that I say STOP! My advice to hip hop artists is to stop watching what everyone else is doing; here's a thought, how about being ORIGINAL!
Please?!?!
After closely thinking about it, that and talking to the significant other who is also a die hard hip hop fan, I've come to the conclusion that my music preference for high quality work has nothing to do with getting old because when Jim Jones or Busta Rhymes are talking about "poppin' bottles in the club" they are saying it so that people within my age group can identify with them, not for 14-17 year olds who can't drink...legally or buy Lamborghini's or Maybach's. So if I feel that the radio has become a detriment, it really has! A good majority of people my age absolutely hate where hip hop is at right now so it has nothing to do with getting older.
But back on subject, to check out Jada's new song click the link below, it really is a banger.

And before I forget, I would like to commend Mr.C for always keeping it real and true to hip hop on the radio. As for the other DJ's polluting the air waves with steamy scorching musical garbage...shame on it!
