Greater Richmond Chamber  of Commerce  poll’ shows overwhelming support for McDonnell

Tagged ‘Hob Nob’ with this year’s candidates and ‘Virginia’s new best political event’, the Greater Richmond Chamber of Commerce last night held an Official Straw Poll Ballot to see how members and their guests planned to vote this November.

At the SnagAJob Pavilion in Innsbrook, attendees cast their vote on the Gubernatorial and down ticket overwhelmingly favoring the Republican ticket.

Current Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling, who is seeking re-election, was in attendance and said that an Administration  under Bob  McDonnell would be all about ‘jobs, jobs, jobs’. McDonnell, he said, would be the ‘Chief Jobs Officer’.

Results of the straw poll as follows:
Governor:
McDonnell -76% Deeds – 24%
Lt. Governor:
Bolling – 69% Wagner – 31%
Attorney- General:
Cuccinelli – 68% Shannon – 32%

The Gubernatorial candidates were busy elsewhere conducting their final face- to face debate which emphasized health care reform. Lt. Governor Bill Bolling was the only major ticket candidate in attendance though the GOP were strong on the ground with Delegates John O’Bannon, Bill Janis, Senator John Watkins and candidates Mike Gage and Ernesto Sampson pressing the flesh.

The, arguably, most popular man, still in Virginia, former Lt. Gov. John Hager was also in attendance.

On the Democratic side, Tom Shields who is running against Dr. O’Bannon in the 73rd House District was the sole Democrat following up on his debate with his opponent following last week's debate at Henrico Doctors’ Hospital.

To mix things up several Australians were amongst the crowd, having, traveled to Virginia to find out more about the American political system and gain first hand experience on the campaign trail.
