In what is hoped to NOT be a typical example of his political and economic acumen, soon to be President Barrack Hussein Obama selected an acknowledged income tax cheater to be his Secretary of the Treasury.

Timothy Geithner, the current President of the New York Federal Reserve Bank, nominated by President-elect Obama to be the new Treasury Secretary, failed to pay his self-employment taxes from 2001-2004. At the time, he was working for the International Monetary Fund. He failed to pay $34,000 in back taxes until just before his nomination became public.
Incoming White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs characterized Mr. Geithner’s failure to pay these taxes as “embarrassing but honest mistakes.” Senate Majority Leader Harry “Chicken Neck” Reid called the Secretary-designate’s tax problems “a few minor hiccups.”
While working for the International Monetary Fund, Mr. Geithner was required to sign an affidavit stating he would pay all appropriate US taxes, and his pay was ‘grossed up’ to compensate him for the extra US taxes incurred by independent contractors.
Gibbs said a consensus exists among both Democrats and Republicans that Geithner "has the intelligence and the experience to do this job, that he's somebody who's dedicated to public service and is the right person to steer this economy and lead the Department of Treasury."
Thus we have a man nominated to “steer the economy” who either didn’t know he had to pay self-employment taxes for 4 years when he was self-employed – which shows he is stupid and completely unqualified to be Secretary of the Treasury, or who knew but decided not to pay them – which makes him a liar and a cheat and completely unqualified to be Secretary of the Treasury. And any politician who supports his nomination is either equally as stupid or as dishonest. You pick.
The Secretary of the Treasury runs the Internal Revenue Service. Having a tax cheat as Secretary sends a great message to US tax payers – go ahead and cheat on your taxes, even the head of the IRS did it, and nothing happened to him. Just you try this and see how fast you get hammered with huge fines and jail time.
Just another example of “Change We Can Believe In.”
