Today, Scoti Springfield Domeij published the article Recession helpers: How to give money anonymously to someone struggling financially. It was a good article with stories and an anectode. Scoti is the Colorado Springs Single Moms Examiner.

Not only are there families suffering from the recession, being forced to move into too small spaces, or in with family members, but there are also people being forced into homelessness.

Single moms in the Bangor area have ways in which they can help others without getting credit. Performing these helpful acts with their children is important, as doing so well teach their children great lessons in caring about others.

  1. Gift baskets are great. Single mom families, with little money of their own, can put together food baskets full of homemade goods for needy neighbors. Simply leave the basket on the neighbors doorstep before he or she gets home from work.
  2. Donate clothing to the Goodwill.
  3. Donate food to food cupboards by dropping the goods the items off without leaving your name.
  4. Holiday gift baskets are another great idea. Filled with homemade ornaments and other decorations from your family, this gift basket will be a welcome treat for a needy family who has just moved into your neighborhood. If funds are available, add a small gift or two, wrapped and labeled DO NOT OPEN 'TILL CHRISTMAS, for each family member. Leave on the families' doorstep while they are out.
  5. Purchase a gift for a needy child each time you go to a dollar store during December.
