Got an airplane enthusiast or a future pilot in the family? Tired of the same old rainy day activities? Head to the Observation Gallery at BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport for an afternoon of family fun and aviation exploration.
BWI's Observation Gallery, with its Children's Play area, floor-length windows, and Youth Art Gallery, is perfect for children of all ages. The Gallery provides a bird's eye view of departing, arriving, and taxing airplanes. The large picture windows also give children a close-up glimpse into airport operations as employees load and unload baggage and re-fuel jets.

For kids who can't sit still long enough to watch planes land and takeoff, there are several exhibits that include parts of a disassembled Boeing 737 aircraft. Children (and their moms) are sure to be fascinated at the enormity of the plane as they stand nose to nose with the jet's nose cone. Kids are invited to explore a one-time operational commercial cockpit and get up- close-and-personal with an aircraft's landing gear, wing flaps, and tail. For toddlers and older children, large plane models are just waiting to be climbed on in a play area that's unlike any neighborhood playground.

The BWI Observation Gallery is located before the security checkpoint on the upper level of the terminal between the B and C Concourses. For more details on the exact location view a BWI airport map. You do not need a boarding pass or flight ticket to use the free facility.
Hours: 8am-9pm daily
**Note: While the Observation Gallery is free, standard parking rates apply at BWI airport.
