Skin Authority's motto is pretty clear – through scientific methods, aestheticians find a product that works for you and educate you on how to create a flawless palette. That theme came to life on Sunday when the first annual Holiday Boot Camp welcomed friends and guests to the New Children's Museum in downtown San Diego for a beauty workout of sorts.
Meticulously set up to mirror the company's four-step skin restoration regime via a ring-a-found-the-rosy, patrons were split up into smaller groups and shuffled between four sections – Vital Nutrition, Home Routine, Beauty Savvy and Lifestyle Essentials. Though I was overlooked during much of the consultation period thanks to a previous visit, most of the women (and sprinkling of men) were given a full skin synopsis as they relayed their full skin history to educated aestheticians. Elizabeth Hill, a youthful participant, learned that she was already in need of Skin Authority's glycolic acid treatment and found that one of the most helpful hints to healthier skin was exfoliation. "I learned I really need to exfoliate more since many skin problems are caused by a buildup of dead skin cells."
The staff, clad in black, was eager to assist in everything from hand and neck massages to information on the unique green facility. The event as CEO and founder Celeste Hilling reminded everyone, was about "reenergizing" and "reminding you to have fun." From tackling those nasty food rumors – no, what you ingest typically doesn't have an effect on your skin (only about 1% of it does!) – to essentially bringing Skin Authority's concept to 3D, the two hour mind, body and soul workout was easily digested. "The people who participated were interactive and interested in learning about ways to enhance their skin health so it allowed Skin Authority staff the opportunity to be much more personal in their approach to making lifestyle Recommendations," remarked Hilling following the event.
It was easy to feel the excitement; not only was the staff eager to educate, but veteran Skin Authority users were equally as energetic. "I love the sun block!" exclaimed one "athlete." "Sometimes I put in on and I'm like 'Is it there?' It's not greasy at all!" The feedback seemed beyond compare, Hilling noted. "Most people like the fact that the event was not 'stuffy' but casual so they felt comfortable sharing their thoughts with the staff. If people felt touched and caring for the two hour timeframe, Skin Authority met its goal!"

By far the most enticing station was the Lifestyle Essentials where Spa Magazine experts and Dan, Director of Noble Group, offered up hand and back massages. Once the pressure was applied, even the humming sounds of the New Children's Museum whale noises were drowned out. With a few simple, at home tricks (even sans Skin Authority products), we were taught how to breathe, relax and apply some pressue on our own.
