With the birth of the Whittier octuplets recently, babies have certainly been forefront in the news. And no doubt that celebrating with cocktails over Valentine's Day weekend may lead to another baby boom nine months from now.
Los Angeles resident Natalie Bovie-Nelsen, creator and editor of www.TheLiquidMuse.com, wants to help expectant mothers "stay in the social swing of things" with Preggatinis( www.GlobePequot.com) , a clever collection of 75 liquorless libations such as Hawaiian High Ball, Berry Cherry Blossom and Sweet Nothings, all served in regulation cocktail glasses with appropriate festive decoration.
The mocktails developed by Bovie-Nelsen are so colorful and decorated so creatively, moms-to-be won't miss the spirited buzz of the traditional cocktail. And with ingredients like pomegranate juice and fresh cantaloupe and strawberries, these "Preggatinis" are healthy for mom and growing baby.
So get out your best martini glass and fill it with the following Preggatini recipe:
Funky Monkey
Place one scoop chocolate ice cream, 1/2 banana, 1 tablespoon peanut butter and 1/4 cup milk in a blender and mix until smooth. Pour into a cocktail or martini glass. Serve with a side of pickles.
Until our next food find...may all your food finds be fabulous!
