Bob Griese is apologizing for his inappropriate 'taco' comment regarding Juan Pablo Montoya.

In case you missed it on Saturday during the Ohio State-Minnesota game Bob Griese, the football announcer, made a comment about NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Juan Pablo Montoya. ABC was promoting its broadcast of the TUMS Fast Relief 500 in Martinsville on Sunday while showing the top five drivers in the Sprint Cup Series standings on the screen. Broadcaster Chris Spielman asked where Juan Pablo Montoya was, because Montoya dropped from the top five recently.

In response, Griese joked,

"He's out having taco."

Just for Griese's information Juan Pablo Montoya is from Colombia not Mexico. Many fans were offended by the "taco" comment.

Bob Griese offered this apology:

"Juan Pablo Montoya, he's one of the best drivers in NASCAR. Just want to apologize for the comment I made earlier in the ballgame."

*Update*

On Tuesday, the sports network gave the former NFL quarterback with a one-week suspension over his seemingly racist comment.
