Most of us have imagined what our pets do while they are home alone. Cat owners know cats sleep most of the day. At least mine do. Some of us know the dog gets jumps off forbidden furniture the minute they hear us pull into the driveway. And some of us have come back to a disaster area courtesy the pets.

Here are a few videos DC Dogs found for you. These owners just had to know what was happening in their absence, so they set up video surveillance.

If your dog is barking incessantly or being destructive in your absence, please get a free sample of the book, Barking Tips, by Dog Training Examiner, Jeff Millman.

In the first video below, it is reported that the homeowners were always finding water on their pool deck and furniture, whenever they came home. They thought the neighborhood kids were playing in the backyard pool.

I wonder why the wet dogs didn't give it away.....

The owner notes about this next video: "We put a hidden camera on our counter when we left and our dog was caught sniffing, and stealing stuff - sneaky dog... "

If your dog is cruising the counter while you are away, please consider the following tips for a bored dog:

1- Give sturdy interesting toys and treats. i.e. a Kong

2- Walk, walk, walk with your dog. It is the best way to establish a bond with him and to give him stimulation.

3- Consider a companion animal for your dog if you are gone a lot.

4- Check into hiring a dog walking service.
