If movies like The Secret have sparked your interest or you caught the ten week Oprah web cast with Eckhart Tolle and his book A New Earth then you may be pleasantly surprised to know that there is a church out there that is fully aligned with the very same principles. Unity Church is based upon the teachings of Jesus Christ and the power of prayer. It was founded over 100 years ago by Charles and Myrtle Fillmore of Missouri. Unity embodies five basic principles:

God is absolute good, everywhere present and is the only presence and power in the universe.

Human beings have a spark of divinity within them, which is called the Christ.

Human beings create their experiences by the activity of their thinking. Everything in the manifest realm has its beginning in thought.

Prayer and affirmation are the powerful tools that bring about wisdom, healing,
prosperity and good in our lives.

It is not enough to talk about and learn about these principles. They must be practiced in our everyday lives.

Everything in the manifest realm has its beginning in thought. As human beings, this may well be the most powerful concept that we have yet to wrap our minds around. In the books written by Esther and Jerry Hicks this is referred to as “the power to create worlds”. If you have reached a place in your life that leaves you searching for a way to meet like-minded people or if you have been looking for a church, Unity may just be the place for you. Clearly, many, many people have embraced the concepts put forth in The Secret and other works like it. Unity Church is rooted so strongly in these beliefs that it can provide the perfect path for you and your family by way of attending services, taking classes, seeing movies in their spiritual cinema and providing prayer support through their own church chaplains. This is where the rubber hits the road for the last Unity principle: practice in our daily lives.

Unity Center of Vero Beach is just one of nearly 1,000 Unity Churches worldwide. Its summer services are Sunday at 10 a.m.; Unity of the Palm Beaches, on Flagler Drive holds its Sunday services at 11 a.m. Every Unity has a bookstore stocked with the best spiritual literature on the market.

Unity Village, the main headquarters of Unity Church is located in Unity Village Missouri. It is here that its ministers are trained and ordained, the Unity magazine Daily Word is created and the wonderful Silent Unity is housed. Silent Unity is a prayer chapel completely and singularly dedicated to the practice of prayer. If you have a prayer request you can call them at 1-800-669-2229 or make a request online at www.silentunity.org. Once you have made a request, it will be held in prayer for 24 hours, for 30 days. It is confidential and no one is turned away. There is nothing quite like the power of prayer. Please take a look at the links provided so you may begin to further your spiritual path; finding Unity may very well be the most profound discovery of your life.
