Art by Joey Seeman

According to Austin-based Ivan Lozano of Glasstire, Dallas art is about as interesting as a brown paper bag pinned to a white wall. Here's hoping he's back in town this weekend so we can show him what we're really made of (it's a lot more than paper bags).

This Friday, Tara Tonini (better known as Tara to the T) and her partner in crime Joey Seeman are coming together to bring us a very appropriate art meets fashion show a la Depression-era. Stand By Your Man: A Tribute to Bonnie and Clyde will showcase Tara's fashion accessories and Joey's New Deal-esque murals, all inspired by Dallas icons Bonnie and Clyde.

I first met Tara and Joey while preparing for HATCH and while a number of words immediately came to mind upon first site ("wow" being the first), boring was definitely not one of them. Their collaboration is part of the Dallas Indie Experience shopping event, a great way to keep Christmas local and put money back into our community. After all, it's not very "outlaw" to shop at Wal-mart.

And for the least boring event of the year, don't forget Art Conspiracy this Saturday night.

What: Stand By Your Man: A Tribute to Bonnie and Clyde

Where: 411 N. Tyler Street

When: Friday, November 5, 7 pm
