Yes, there is a Santa Claus. I confirmed it today at the Believe Meter at Macy's Men's Home in Pembroke Lakes Mall. You can go there and see for yourself. When you arrive, please take a moment for the sake of tradition to seat yourself in the red velvet chair and compose a letter to St. Nicholas. Prepare to make this column your home for the holidays. With the season fast approaching, I went out to get a sense for the holiday shopping, after stopping in Metropolitan Hospital to welcome Jaya Amaya Roberts, my friend Jennifer's new baby girl, into the world. Then it was off to Macy's.
My trek began at Macy's Men's Home simply because it is closet to the Food Court. Besides Macy's is a good place to begin your holiday strategy. For today, let it suffice that we are just laying the ground work for a rather unorthodox holiday season. I'll be looking around for recession deals, tips and tricks with an aim to focus on technology. Mind you, if there is a news flash with benefits, then without bias, you will find it here. Frankly, I will be sniffing around for any new innovative technology and price is not an issue. You may see deals from Dollar Direct, CVS, Walgreen's, Target, Best Buy, Office Depot, Tiger Direct, Sears, JC Penney, Dillard's, Macy's, AT&T, TMobile, Radio Shack, Walmart or even Home Depot if it makes holiday sense. For the upper echelon, don't forget to check RareDaily/Miami. I did search around Macy's for some blazing technology to no avail. There were a few guys hanging around, who shall remain nameless, but they were not giving up any information. It was quiet, so apparently the momentum has not yet begun. As the days progress, I will continue to take the temperature and keep you informed of the the latest preferred recession specials and shopping locales.

Mission accomplished. Having done due diligence, I retreated to the Food Court to visit my favorite walk up grill and sushi place Sarku Japan. By the way, you will want to visit the Food Court even if you are not shopping. Today, I was struck by the friendliness and warm welcome of Odye, a new employee who was learning how to grill on the hibachi, on my order. I observed him, clearly very proud of his new job and holding up quite well under pressure. He grasped the hibachi technique while preparing my chicken and shrimp with vegetables. Voila! Odye, the food was quite good, or is it 'Arigato'?
