Upon hearing of the passing of Michael Jackson I thought about his effect on Hip-Hop music and culture. From an early age Jackson produced some of the funkiest music the world has ever heard, and Hip-Hop music took notice.

As the 80's rolled around the glimmer on Jackson's star dimmed. He turned to Hip-Hop's elite to help boost his career. Teddy Riley, Heavy D, The Notorious B.I.G, and Jay-Z all collaborated with Jackson in the 90's and new millennium.

Jackson's impact on Hip-Hop is most felt in the music that sampled him. Some of the biggest songs in rap history contained elements of a Michael Jackson creation. Below are a few examples of those songs.
