mindfulness reminders
Change the way you associate "bad" thoughts with
stressors, like telephone rings and allow them to serve
as mindfulness reminders.

The alarm goes off. The phone rings. The meeting reminder chimes. An email screen pops up on your computer. A baby cries. A siren whines in the background. These are all reminders that life is moving fast around us - With or without us. Somewhere to be, something to do.

But all of these things can also be reminders to breathe and be mindful about the world around us. By changing how we associate with stress signals in life, we can gain greater response control to stressors and ultimately move to benefit our minds and bodies.

In the case of a cell phone ringing, commit to taking one deep breath prior to answering. Take a full inhalation and exhalation to center yourself and bring yourself back into the present moment. Or maybe commit to smiling at the break of every meeting alarm. The easiest quick-fix for relaxing the entire body is to give yourself a small smile.

By using stress signals as reminders for self-Love, we allow ourselves to transform negative thoughts into moments of opportunity.
