Saturday is Halloween, and it’s also farmer’s market day. What does this mean? It means that some of the local farmer’s markets have special activities going on.
Covington Farmer’s Market-
Covington’s farmer’s Market is at the Covington City Hall (609 North Columbia, Covington) from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. The Leisure Kings will be the featured musicians this week, and there araa LOT of vendors with products. St. Benedict's Church Lunch Ministry will present and sell their Cookbook to raise funds for the shut ins and infirm. They have a long list of products for this Saturday, so don’t miss it!
Crescent City Farmer’s Market-
Crescent City Farmer’s Market has Adopt-a-Mirliton going on. This project is to help re-establish the mirliton as a backyard crop in New Orleans after nearly being wiped out after Katrina. Read more about it here. As usual, there is a long list of products typically available during this season, running from kettle corn to soaps, teas, gourmet rice, meats, seafood, and prepared foods. Saturday’s market is at 700 Magazine St. (corner of Girod & Magazine) from 8 a.m.-12 a.m.
German Coast Farmer’s Market-
The German Coast Farmer’s Market has pumpkins! There are a lot of vendors at the market this week, with everything typically found at this busy market such as jellies, fresh fruits/vegetables, seafood, meats, soaps, and so much more. Open at the Ormand Plantation on River Road in Destrehan on Saturday from 8-12 p.m.
Westwego Farmer’s Market-
Halloween costume contests make for fun here this Saturday, so show up to the Market dressed to spooktacular best. Photos are also being taken from 8:30-2 p.m. Once again, this beautiful marketplace has a long list of vendors, making it easy to find some very unique products, including handcrafted items. Find the market at the corner of 4th & Salas in Westwego.
