Map locates Pittsburgh , Penn. where police officers were wounded in a shootout
(AP)

A disturbing breaking story has just been reported:

A man opened fire on officers during a domestic disturbance call Saturday morning, killing three of them, a police official said. Friends said he feared the Obama administration was poised to ban guns.

Let's see how the "unbiased" press reports "straight news":

Three Pittsburgh police officers killed by gun-loving maniac; afraid Obama would limit gun rights...

A gun-loving lunatic who was afraid President Obama would ban firearms killed three Pittsburgh cops Saturday in a blizzard of bullets, police and witnesses said.

The implications here are clear: gun owners, and those who believe in the right to keep and bear arms are maniacs and lunatics, all to be judged based on the actions that took place here.

This story is still developing. You can click here for updates.

And lest we upset Elizabeth Hays and the rest of her "authorized journalist" colleagues at The Daily News, Obama has indeed indicated a desire to ban an entire classification of popular firearms. This desire has been repeated by Attorney General Eric Holder. And with the help of complicit media lapdogs like Ms. Hays, their allies have been lying through their teeth to come up with justification. So if there is a perception out there that gun bans are on the way, it seems fair to ask who created and perpetuates it.

At this point we know very little about the suspect. Whether his failed "Internet talk show" means he was an activist of sorts remains to be seen. But regardless of the findings, as this continues to unfold, keep one thing in mind:

It is not the fault of peaceable armed citizens--nor of those who advocate their right to keep and bear arms.

Please feel free to post news update highlights in "Comments" as they become known.

UPDATE:

Per the Post-Gazette:

Records indicate that Mr. Poplawski was dishonorably discharged from the corps during basic training.

In other words, if this is true, he was a "prohibited person" and could not legally possess a firearm.
