You can't say I didn't warn you about Hillary Clinton's Senate replacement, "pro-gun" Kirsten Gillibrand:

Gillibrand is already horse-trading our rights...

I'm...cautioning against placing too much faith in any "pro-gun" democrat, once party politics come into play--with the attendant carrots for support and sticks for straying from the path.

Here comes more:

And she let Senator Charles E. Schumer, who had enthusiastically supported her selection, reassure downstate voters that she would “evolve” on gun control, too.

...“I respected the fact that she came out and said she was going to back up the guns, and hunting,” said Keith Disbrow, 53, a retired correction officer. “I’m an avid hunter and fisherman. But as soon as Schumer and Silver got to her, I watched her change her tune. She was doing a decent job, but now that she’s going to be a statewide senator, I think they’re going to make her fold. She’s not going to have the Democratic Party’s backing if she doesn’t.”

I will repeat, ad nauseum, the Second Amendment has nothing to do with hunting or fishing. But I call Mr. Disbrow's observation to the attention of "sportsmen" who have been duped by operations like the Obama-supporting American Hunters and Shooters Association into thinking their guns will be safe--if only we can all agree on some "reasonable commonsense gun laws."

Polyphemus may eat you last, but he will eat you.

Respected voices in the Second Amendment community have promoted a belief that there was "no net loss" for gun owners in November--that Democrat advances were mitigated by "the National Rifle Association’s success in working with pro-gun Democrats."

I don't buy it.

I didn't buy it when these "pro-gun Democrats" endorsed Barack Obama, "the most anti-gun president in American history."

I didn't buy it when these "pro-gun Democrats" unanimously approved confirmation of anti-gun Eric Holder as Attorney General.

And I don't believe we'll see them hold fast on the side of Freedom when party marching orders are presented.

They're far too "evolved" for that.

Gun Week interview

Friend and colleague Mike Vanderboegh has been interviewed in the February 15 issue of Gun Week, on sale at newsstands now. The article includes some commentary from yours truly.

Mike has posted the interview in two parts (One and Two) on his Sipsey Street Irregulars blog. I always encourage readers to buy the magazine as well, for the other features and articles, and also as a way of supporting the people who bring us good things. They have bills and mouths to feed, too, and if we don't keep them around, they're going to stop bringing us those good things.
