Have you seen me?

Flight or fight? Fantasy or Fact? Angels or demons? The response to the idea of ETs/aliens runs the gamut of human emotional responses.

Some see the beings as enlightened messengers of God; others see them as the agents of Satan, coercing the weak into corruption. For those who have come face to face with these entities, the question is not one of philosophy but of core beliefs and even survival.

Perhaps the most polarized of these beings are the ones called Zetas, or Grays. Even the image on this web column most likely provoked a strong emotional response – one way or the other. These beings are the ones most people think of as ‘the aliens’ – perhaps most famously manifested from the collective consciousness as the beings in the film Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

Merriam-Webster defines the word alien (adj.) as:
1a: belonging or relating to another person, place, or thing : strange 1b: relating, belonging, or owing allegiance to another country or government : foreign 1c: exotic;
2: differing in nature or character typically to the point of incompatibility. (emphasis added)

In other words, aliens are, by their nature the others. While many people profess to enjoy or even embrace the exotic and foreign, the history of humanity has shown a reluctance and hostility towards that which is deemed ‘not of us’. In this regard, aliens have a natural and possibly intractable disadvantage to everyone except the disenfranchised. This column and many authors use the moniker ‘extraterrestrial’ as a more neutral term and one that takes some of the reactive emotion out of the idea of visitors from other worlds.

So, given all the reports of terror, action against the will and possible demonic connections, what can we make of the Zetas? First, the ‘abductees’ are always returned, so perhaps they should be better labeled temporary detainees. Second, a highly advanced race that can manipulate memories, travel across galaxies and remain completely undetected would surely overrun the armies of Earth, if that were the intent. The fact that it has not happened is indirect evidence of at least not overt hostility. Third, some abductees have come to view their experience as the most significant and spiritually meaningful events of their life.

How can we resolve this disconnect between those who experience abject terror and those who experience esoteric bliss? One of the hallmarks of negatively oriented beings is that they proclaim to be gods, rulers or other ‘supreme beings’. Should such a being indicate salvation, the rapture, or related events, it is probable that the being is not working toward the higher good of humanity.

On the other hand, those that attempt to enlighten, enrich and promote individuality and collective spiritual growth are likely working toward the ascension of Earth. Ultimately, the litmus test has to be you own intuition – words can be deceptive. If you feel a spiritual connection and higher purpose, this is likely and ally. If you feel hesitation, distrust or manipulation, the safest thing to do is sever the relationship, in whatever way feels most appropriate.
