The Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (HSS) has planned to conduct a Training camp named Sangh Siksha Varg 2009 from June 28th 2009 to July 5th 2009 at Mount Kare CA and Camp Wrightwood CA, respectively. The camp is organized each year in different parts of USA to help the participants to perform effective Shakha programs. A Shakha is a chapter/program of HSS and they include youth and adults to participate in activities like games, songs, discussions and lectures to learn the Hindu culture and heritage.
Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (HSS) USA is a voluntary, non-profit, social and cultural organization. HSS was founded in 1989 and currently it has over 100 weekly meeting centers (Shakhas). Balagokulam is a children’s program conducted by HSS to help them learn the Hindu heritage in an amiable environment. Balagokulam help the kids to develop leadership qualities and encourage them to publish a quarterly magazine where the children contribute the most. The magazine became popular within two years of its launch and has more than 2500 subscribers all round USA and also in Australia, Canada and UK.
The HSS also conducts in some special events like Yuva Sangam (Youth Meet), Hindu heritage camp, festival celebrations and other Sewas (services). The HSS Shakhas in Texas donated medical aid, in-kind donations of food and blanket to the Katrina survivors. The volunteers also engaged the evacuees in yoga and games to help them to overcome the stress of their situation. The HSS also organizes exhibitions to showcase the contributions of Hindus in the fields of sciences, literature, architecture etc.
The Sangh Siksha Varg is an excellent opportunity for young and adults to learn about Hindu heritage through the various Shakha activities while at the same time having fun and making new friends. The camp also encourages parents to accompany their kids so that even the adults can be in touch of their Hindu culture and heritage.
