The best heeled gals of 2008 made it to my list as a result of the most scientific criteria ever designed - measures such as, not having been photographed in Uggz this year; what has been on foot while hanging out or shopping; and the general presentation of the collective picture.

The results... 

10. Jessica Alba because she has the best published shoe collection and closet - TDF (that is, 'to die for' for those unversed in the Information Age's shorthand). Not only is she a superior beauty, she has the shoe closet to match. Who coined the phrase "you can't have everything"?
 

Sienna Miller and Keira Knightley

8. and 9. Keira Knightley and Sienna Miller because there is not a better pair of well heeled Brits. Keira is always knightly and even in sneakers, Sienna is sporting the coolest kicks ... if I were into sneakers.
 

Katie Holmes and Suri

7. Katie Holmes because she is the best heeled celeb mom. She can carry Suri without compromising her shoe game. No Uggz here.
 

Ashley Olsen 

6. Ashley Olsen. The shoe collection of the twins can indeed rival that of Carine Roitfeld but because this twin has not been caught in flip flops while not at the beach, she takes the prize.
 

Heidi Klum

5. Heidi Klum because she is already sporting the Louis Vuitton spring 2009 sandals. Let us all hate Heidi together.

4. Whose feet are better dressed than the gals of Sex and the City-the Movie? Or, should it go to Pat Fields for making it all possible? From the amazing closet that made all gals weep for its loss to the Dior cutout sandals that Carrie wore over and over again because they were just that worthy, is there another movie featuring a cast with a more ultimate foot treatment?

 

Gwyneth Paltrow

3. Gwyneth Paltrow because she has worked hard to get in the best shape after her pregnancy and she is not afraid to flaunt the fruits of her labor ... in 5.5-inch platforms.

 

 

Rihanna

2. Rihanna because she can throw on Balenciaga's spring 08 gladiator sandals to go out for a milkshake. She is the baddest chic.
 

 

Kelly Ripa

1. Kelly Ripa because day after day she appears on Live with Regis and Kelly with nothing but the best in shoes. AND THEN, and then, wait for this ... she runs a High Heel-a-thon in 4-inch YSL pumps. All hail the queen! You will never find Kelly in an average pair of shoes. You may not have won the Heel-a-thon, Kelly, but you are a winner in my heart. One of the winners purchased her shoes for $6 at Payless. C'mon! Kelly wins by default.

 

 

Carine Roitfeld 

And, in a stratosphere of her own is editrix Carine Roitfeld. She floats above it all because there has not been anyone else with a more fierce set of shoes and style to emerge.
