Producers, Skye Johnson and Taylor Pratt, Marketing Coordinators for Merchandising Inc., put on a grand show on Friday, March 6th, 2008. The theme was The Elements. The backstage was full of stylists, hair dressers, makeup artists and models, that both Skye and Taylor kept organized and on key. It was a true fashion show backstage, as hair spray was flying in the air, models rushing to get dressed, and stylists were making last minute touches to their lines.

All the stylists had impressive collections Styled by Yuria Hashimotofilled with color and ideas that stood out, but it was 1 stylist that had truly great creative edges that stuck in my mind, because every detail was looked at from the makeup art down to the hand-sewn touches to pull the look together.

Yuria Hashimoto, from Kyoto, Japan is a sophomore at the University of North Texas. Hashimoto styled in the Elements fashion show for her first time, and blew the audience out of the water with her inventive touches in her sea-themed segment, and resourceful attention to detail.

“I tried to express various colors of sea anemone, sea weed, and bubbles swaying on the wave with a feeling of pop and cuteness.”

Hashimoto used hair bands with sea shells, ropes, and starfishes and used different types of hair gel and glitter to make very tight and straight pony tails with a wet feeling just like it they were goddesses that emerged from the sea. Most of her clothing came from the vintage store, Circa 77, and the rest she searched her own closet. Hashimoto created looks out of nothing using vintage pieces mixed with seashells to make necklaces. There was no detail spared on any one model.

“I made a lot of layers by putting petticoats, scarves, and one piece on to express massiveness but miniskirts to adjust the look.”

Creating 10 different looks, Yuria Hashimoto, successfully made her first fashion show a hit using the right models for her looks, including Campbell Agency’s Kate Mitchell, and other aspiring models like Jessica Valenzuela, Melissa Condrack, Courtney Kennedy, Stephanie Fazzio, Meica Bradshaw, Jamie Walton, Nea Dean, Patricia Beason, and Mako Omoi.

The rest of the show was full of energy utilizing the tunes and sounds from Fizzy Dino Pop, and singer/songwriter Claire Morlaes
