Fox's Glee is off to a strong start, drawing 7.3 million viewers during Wednesday's season premiere episode, while Melrose Place and So You Think You Can Dance seemed to disappoint.
Glee climbed to a 3.5 rating in the nationals among adults 18-49, making it Fox's highest-rated scripted fall premiere in three years, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Dance, which is back again after a hit summer season, was down 21% from its two-hour summer opener while up against Barack Obama's health care speech.
The series premiere of Melrose Place was also unsuccessful in the ratings game, achieving last place in the 9 PM spot Tuesday night, according to Mediaweek. The now-canceled Privileged even received 37% higher ratings when it debuted in the same spot last year.
