No one but an avid Leonardo DiCaprio fan could know that the actor's dad, George, was once heavily involved in the underground comic scene.
Well, avid Leo fans and Todd McFarlane.
The comics veteran has plans for bringing Spawn back to the big screen, and he has his eye on DiCaprio for the lead role. "The main character isn't Spawn, per se, it's the guy chasing Spawn," McFarlane told MTV News. "And I've always had [Leonardo] DiCaprio in the back of my mind." Based on the experiences of Leo's dad, and the actor's penchant for emotionally-driven roles, McFarlane reasons, "It's not a big special-effects movie, it's a character movie, so I could shoot it in 40-50 days and you don't have to budget that much time."
And only truly avid Leo fans would appreciate the irony of DiCaprio replacing Romeo + Juliet costar John Leguizamo who starred in the largely-panned 1997 film version of the comic.
