All anyone is talking about today is the post fight antics and comments from Brock Lesnar. Unfortunately, Brock's post-fight antics and comments have overshadowed his huge victory at UFC 100. But, did they do any real damage to the UFC? Let's take a look at some of the possible damages stemming from Brock's post-fight extravaganza.
Offending the crowd
Brock Lesnar loved the negative attention from the crowd. In fact, he encouraged their booing. Not only did he flip the crowd off after the fight but he also said "I love it, Keep doing it" referring to the crowd's disdain for him.
Now, is this really going to hurt the live attendance or PPV shares? I don't think so. In fact, it's only going to make things more popular. The MMA die-hards are going to root for everyone to destroy Brock Lesnar. So, UFC and all the other fighters should be thanking Brock for this and not condemning him.
Disrespecting the Sponsors
During his post-fight interview, Brock mentions "I'm gonna go home and drink a Coors light because Bud light don't pay me nothing". When was the last time that a UFC fighter thanked one of the big sponsors or even acknowledged the sponsor. If anything, Brock has brought more attention to Bud Light and possibly obtained another sponsor for himself or the UFC. Another job well done by Brock.
Pissing Off the Boss
Well, here's where Brock got into the most trouble. He pissed off the boss.
“Straight WWE,” said Dana White “Brock went so far over the top tonight I can’t even describe it. I don’t think in the history of the UFC we’ve ever done anything like
Dana White was supposedly so pissed off that he stormed into Brock's locker room and cornered Brock to give him a verbal lashing. But I ask the following questions:.
So Brock makes an entertaining apology to smooth over the naysayers. The mainstream attention is at a fever pitch because of Brock Lesnar. In fact, Brock Lesnar has taken this company to new heights in popularity and money. SO, you can thank Brock for that too Dana White. Oh wait, you already did that in a past interview.
Conclusion:
Brock didn't do anything to hurt the UFC long-term or short-term. If anything, he did more in one night to raise the level of popularity than any other fighter in the history of the UFC. Just ask Dana White as he's counting all the money that he's swimming in.
